Ormond by the Sea is a quaint seaside community between Ormond Beach and Flagler Beach on Florida's central east coast. Ormond by the sea is on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River. A summer playground for the rich like Henry Flagler and John D. Rockefeller in years gone by, Ormond Beach is now known as the Birthplace of Speed
due to the early auto races on its beaches. Ormond by the Sea is North of the Ormond Beach city limits and is an unincorporated area that is mostly residential. Ormond Beach is centrally located to many of central Florida's

A rare World War II coastal watch tower was refurbished in 2004 including a placard placed at it’s base with a brief history. The 30 foot tower, built in the 1940’s was reorganized as a historic site in the mid 1990’s. The tower is on the dunes around the 2100 block of Ocean Shore Boulevard. Ormond By The Sea has an Oceanfront park (Tom Renick Park) with parking and picnic facilities and bicentennial park with tennis and ballfield facilities. Highbridge park is on the river and is a popular fishing
spot and boat launch. There is also a nature trail.
